The organizing scheme for this facility is a focus on movement both aesthetically as well as functionally. Visually the structural space frame gives the appearance of an airplane wing with the exterior walls of the central waiting simulating the tail mast and wing. This creates an asymmetrical balance with the wait/office serving as the anchor.
Functionally the main wing serves as a shelter over the arriving and departing cars. Each of the five lanes can alternate as arrival or departures depending on the time of the day and are controlled with lights over the bays. The tail wing projects from the waiting area to provide shelter for airport shuttles. Client demands were met with car washing services, interior detailing and shade while you’re out of town.
